Pier with Palapa
As a dock owner, it is important to understand the rules and regulations regarding dock permits. In some cases, building or installing a dock on your property may not require a permit, as long as you comply with a handful of dock planning regulations. In other cases, the state may require a general dock permit. Knowing where and when dock permits are required will help you plan and build the dock you want.

Docks

If you listen to the hype, it sounds like there must be 20 or 30 different types of docks out there.
But in all honesty, there are really only 3 basic types of docks available and used by all companies. Aluminum Floating Docks, Wooden Floating Docks and Composite/Synthetic Floationg Docks. The type of dock you install will depend on how you plan to use it.
Aluminum Floating Docks!
Aluminum is one of the most versatile building materials, thanks to its light structure. Also, it allows to design the floating boat docks in different shapes. Although lightweight, aluminum frames are robust enough to withstand impacts from ships and storms better than plastic materials.
Using a low-profile aluminum rail frame, the platforms make it easy to insert or remove platform panels. But if you’re going to DIY, make sure you do it right to avoid costly repairs. For unique sites, you can opt for a custom dock system.

Wooden Floating Docks!
A wooden dock guarantees the style and functionality of permanent docks but with more flexibility. The frames are usually made of treated wood and joined with galvanized steel or stainless steel. A polished wood finish leaves you with timeless beauty that will last for years.
When you opt for a wooden frame, you must perform regular maintenance to avoid costly repairs. Wooden docks can be customized to fit your boat’s mooring requirements or to follow the layout of bodies of water.

Composite/Synthetic Floationg Docks!
Many homeowners lack the time and patience required to maintain a wooden dock. Composite docks may be preferable for their fair density, low maintenance, and durability. They are also eco-friendly because of the use of recycled wood and plastics. Because it’s a manufactured product, composite decking offers more color options than wood finish.

- Joining floating docks to stationary docks at marinas expands the boat-handling capacity.
– Expansion ability
- The docks can be repositioned, removed, or redesigned to meet changing needs.
– Versatility
- Those docks cost less to install and require fewer dock accessories than other dock options.
– Affordability
- A dock system that floats offers more resistance against battering storms and submersion by rising water levels.
– Storm resistance
- Homeowners will find it easy to install the docks by themselves, and contractors will do it much quicker if you’re short on time.
– Quick installation
- Because floating docks acclimatize to stormy conditions, they protect your boat from submersion and being hit against the pilings.
